What is your Thanksgiving Menu like? Anything outside the norm? We do a HUGE potluck with my family and I need to bring a side dish or something... ours is this weekend and I'm running out of time to decide! One of the main dishes is a fried turkey this year, but there is sure to be ham as well. I'm thinking about inviting my parents over on Thanksgiving Day, but I'll be pushing Mexican food by then lol.

If someone has a grill there, take asparagus. Marinate it in Italian dressing and then roll it in Parmesan cheese. Then, throw it on the grill until the cheese is browned.

I've got a really good broccoli salad recipe that I'll try to find. Even my husband, a confirmed "I will not eat broccoli" type likes this salad. The recipe calls for raisins, but a friend told me about switching dried cranberries for the raisins over the holidays. I like it better with the cranberries! It's Jim Bean's, or maybe Roy Bean's, or somebody Bean's Broccoli Salad, if you want to search the web, but I'll try to find it a little later. (Right now, I've got a bunch of produce to put up that I went and bought to try out Baby Duck's Juicer! LOL!)

Along with our Turkey, we have much the usual, yams, salad, green veggie and rolls and a specialty of mine cranberry relish. you can make it a few days ahead and it just gets better. Let me know if you want it. It is a cold side dish.

Let me know how the veggie juice turns out and what you use in it. I love V8, and it would be nice to be able to make something similar fresh.

This is a recipe that has been in our family for years. When my husband and I first got married, I bought him a can of cranberry sauce for Thanksgiving dinner, since that was what he grew up with, but after trying the cranberry salad, he has said "goodbye" to canned sauce forever.
CRANBERRY SALAD
2 c. ground raw cranberries
2 c. ground red delicious apples
1 large pkg. raspberry jello
2 c. sugar
2 c. hot water
1 c. cold water
Lg. can crushed pineapple, drained
1/2 c. chopped walnuts
1-2 stalks celery, thinly sliced
Mix jello, hot water and sugar. Add cold water. Add chopped fruit (use a food processor putting the fruit in a little at a time and removing before adding more fruit), pineapple, nuts, and celery. Mix well and chill until set. I usually make this the day or night before.

Our family Thanksgiving was today! I'm wiped out. I don't know how my aunt & uncle do it - they are *amazing* people. I'll try and post some pictures, but it might be Monday or so. After asking my aunt specifically what was needed, she asked me to bring drinks. I got off the hook for a side dish and had the easy part of just bringing a bunch of 2-liters, ice and cups.

Cranberry Relish
2 packages fresh cranberries (ground up in food processor)
1 can pinapple (large can)
2 apples
1 large box cranberry jello (use cherry if cannot find cranberry)
1 orange (grate some of the rind also)
1 cup chopped nuts (I use walnuts)
Put all ingredients in food processor and pour all into large container to store in fridge.
PS - recipe says add sugar to taste. We like it tart so we add none. Once I made for someone who wanted it sweeter and I used a little Splenda.
