We are doing some very late Spring Cleaning and have a ton of stuff to give away. I've got a truck coming for pickup on Wednesday, but they said they cannot take any of my old computers or monitors. They won't take the computers because I took the hard drives out. I'm more worried about the monitors - he said they are considered hazardous waste and I can't just dispose of them. What am I supposed to do with them??? Who will take them?

I think there is a palce on Budde road. It is in a little shopping center but the name of it escapes me. They took everything I had, monitors and all. I think it is in the small business secion of WUG.

I've got a call into this place:

But I'm really confused as to whether or not they'll take my Computers and Monitors, if they'll charge me for these, and if I can bring them M-F or only on Wednesday. I've left a message and hope they'll call me back.

Oh, and that link is also in our Stickied "The Woodlands Links" thread :)

How about the schools? They used to take them.

They want everything working. I've taken the hard drives out of the computers and I'm too lazy to plug the monitors in to test them. They should be working, though.

I'll ask Christian (my SO) if he knows any takers....we always get rid of stuff like that to the computer geeks at his work! I guess they like to take them just to tinker around with.....

That's why I have so many ;). There's got to be a limit, though!

Ouch... Precinct 3 Recycle Center called me back and there is a $10 fee for each monitor we dispose of! Also, $10 per TV, $5 per printer, but no charge for CPU's, keyboards, and such.

Rags to Riches? Or the dump over there?

I took 2 monitors and 2 laptops there this summer and paid $40. I wanted them out of my house...THEN...so I paid it. I've since been back with another monitor and paid, yet again. It was a small price to pay to have them out of my house. They told me they take them to somewhere in Dallas for them to be recycled.

Nope. It is a computer guy with a shop on a corner of a little shopping center. Maybe I am remembering the wrong street. Next time I am in that area, I will have to look. I certainly cannot remember the name of the place. A gray bearded guy met me in the shop and gave me a cart to haul the stuff into his shop. I gave him some software and play things for computers as well. Inside there are rows of work benches with computers that he is either working on or testing stuff.

This place sounds perfect for my stuff. If you do remember, could you post the info here?
