Seriously. They'll bend over backwards to help you out on the spot, swapping childcare, letting my kids use their yard as the "goal", letting you know they're on their way out to the store and did you need anything?, etc., etc., etc. Life is good. :)

Does that apply to your neighborhood psycho? It might be nice to be alerted when she is leaving.......FOR GOOD!
We lost our neighborhood "crazy lady" (as everyone called her including law enforcement) recently and have had what seems like a nice family who has moved in. We should have thrown a PARTY!
I dont wonder any longer when the next time the "crazy lady" might knock on the door at 4 AM, drunk and needing a jump start for her car!
ETA The nice new family said that when they moved in that there were various and sundry things left from the previous occupant including a room where she stored all her empty tampon boxes.

Weird!!! No, we still have Crazy Lady, although she's been pretty quiet since reporting us to the HOA. I'm sure we'll have something else come up with her in the Spring (she's seasonal). There are 2 families that I don't let my kids play with, and my only regret in that situation is not nipping it in the bud a lot sooner. Things are rather peaceful now, and I'm liking it!

That's really, really cool! My street is polite and quiet but I never had anyone swing by and ask if I need something from the store! I hope we are as lucky as you are when we find a place to buy...kinda makes me think of that whole 'takes a village' thing.
