I had a cat named Sophie. She lived to be 18. She was a blue-tip Himalayen.

I'll bet she was pretty! Our Sophie is 10y (although she looks like a kitten in that photo!) and tiny. We named her for the Sofitel in Houston lol.

Your cat is very pretty - nice markings. Our Sophie was named for the singer Sophie Mae Tucker. I don't have a picture to post because she died several years ago before we had a digital camera so I just have hard copies now. We have a cat now named MsDog.

Thank you :).

What's the story with MsDog's name??

When she was a baby she came to our son's apartment door. Our son was in college at the time. When he opened the door and saw her she looked so thin and pathetic he told her he would take her in but that he would rather have a dog. So he named her "Dog". He didn't know if she was a girl or boy then. He and his room mate thought it was funny to call her Dog. Guys that age have a weird sense of humor. Later when he moved away he left her with us and I changed her name to MsDog.

Awwwww, I wish we could have a cat(s) instead of a dog. They are so much cleaner and I just prefer them all around. However I'm pretty sure it'd be hard to find a cat that wouldn't absolutely hate being around rambunctious boys, including a heavy-handed toddler. I think it would just stay in hiding most of the time and that would not be fair to it. At least the dog likes to 'play' with the boys. I'll get myself a kitty one day when the nest is empty.

Michelle, when I was young I had a friend who had 6 brothers and sisters, and they had the best natured cat I've ever seen. It was like a rag doll. It let those kids carry it around in the most awkward positions, and it never bit or scratched any of them. I don't know how you find a cat like that, but that's the kind of cat we would need with my rambunctious 3-year-old around.

Our Sophie is not like that lol. She was our first baby; we adopted her before we got married, just after we bought our house. We both worked outside the home for the first couple of years, then I stayed home once our first son was born. It's been chaos ever since and I don't think Sophie will ever forgive us for getting the dogs. She still sleeps with me, though :). Oh, and she is my constant computer companion... always on my desk leaning up against my arm as I type away!
