When I lived in Montgomery Alabama at the tender age of 16, they had the same Curfew and those bastards would take my weed and Jack away from me everytime they caught me between those hours, they always let me keep my 38 though and drive home.

Curfews are a good thing.

Yes if they are enforced. The problem is I see and hear kids after midnight that I know are under 16. It's not a priority to enforce it and between those hours are when the cars in the driveways get broken into, and from what they do to the cars you know it has to be kids. If parents and law enforcement don't enforce it, it does no good. And if the kids sneak out and parents don't know it, well it doesn't do much good either.

I agree. I think the community must respond by calling these kids into the police. The police can't be everywhere, but I do hear of incidents where they are citing the kids for curfew violations and making them call their parents. The community has to help too.

Cops dont care they have more important things to do around here than worry why a 14 year old is out at 2am....Yes i am hinting toward the kids in baytown area. They are making like they didnt break the law.
But when i was 16 there were many of times i was just pulling up at 1am coming in from a High school, LSU, or McNeese football game. now i couldnt promise you that i was sober. But if it wasnt football season and i was out past midnight it was more than likely i was breaking the law 80% of the time. But i got off because i wore a LSU hat.

The brochure does talk about exceptions for school-related events. I don't think they are looking to bust kids that are making it home from football games. I have seen the cops around here taking the curfew stuff seriously, it just seems that the parents aren't aware that there is a curfew... or they don't care.

I think if the kids are in a public place, say the movies they might, but in the neighborhoods by the time the respond the kids are gone. They don't patrol the neighborhoods (at least where I am) after midnight or they would catch some of these kids. Then if Mom and Dad don't know they are out, they sure would then.

what amazes me is in the world of internet and cell phones a mother/father doesnt know where his 14 year old son is located. but go back 20 years and my parents knew where me and my friends are located. If they didnt they had the number to my best friend and I was only a phone call away. I love kids today. I was at Verizon the other day and i heard a 10 year old tell her mother my friends have a cell phone, why cant i get one. Mom is like sure now i will know your at. WHAT DOES THIS 10 YEAR OLD HAVE A CAR OR IS THE MOTHER DUMPING THIS 10 YEAR OLD OFF AT THE MALL FOR FREE DAYCARE.

I agree with both of you. And don't get me started on the "free daycare"...

I hate going to the mall. My youngest gets mad cause he's I won't let him go without me being there. I never let my other kids go alone, they weren't even allowed to freely take the car at 16 and go. I did let them go to movies with friends at 15, but they had to be early evening movies. I only go to the mall if I have to.
