Yesterday, there was a dog hanging around us that seem to be very friendly. I guess he/she was a stray, but we really don't know. A few hours later, the beach police come by and shortly later he SHOT the dog. RIGHT THERE on the beach with kids around. I couldn't believe it. He said the dog "lunged" at him. And he fired his gun right there around everyone. It could have richocheted (sp?) or missed, etc..

Then, they left the dead dog on the beach for several hours before someone finally came and picked it up. Granted, three cop cars stuck around discussing it and didn't leave the dog alone, but every kid around saw him shoot the dog (no one saw the dog lunge though) and the body of the dog laying there for so long.

Wow! Are your kids okay? I don't think mine would be!

They are okay. They were really upset when it happened though. There were two other little kids (twins that were around 4) and another little girl around 7 that saw him the shoot the dog. They were hysterical. Their mom called and made a complaint and gave the PD a butt chewing for about 20 minutes. I agreed with her anger, but she was a character herself.

She was giving my brother-in-law her phone number and saying to come visit her for a "good time" while her husband was traveling. (He was there at the beach too.) She admitted to being a former stripper (and looked like one). Her nickname quickly became "Skank" in our group. They had money, but she sure couldn't buy class. Wow, the things she said and did. (Like telling my BIL she could ride him like a cowboy!) puke

Yup, it definitely was. But, in between those few things, I read three books, played dominoes, drank lots of Pina Coladas, Daiquiris and Margaritas and took long naps! :)

One of the books I read was "Eye Contact". I bought it at Target, but if anyone wants it, they can have it. It was a great book. The main characters were a mom, her autistic son and his autistic friend. The friend was murdered and the son witnessed it, but of course, doesn't communicate well to tell any details. It was a good mystery and an interesting look into autism.

The author's son is autistic as well.
