Growing up in the 70s and 80s, I watched the Transformers. So I had to see this movie on opening day. We had no problem getting tickets at 9pm at the market square theather. The movie was slow at first, but turned into a great movie. The wife was upset that i made her go with me. But she left saying it was better than KNocked up. I believe its a good movie to bring the kids to see. It not all action or killing....the kids will leave laughing.

My kids watched Transformers. My older kids were into Power Rangers too. I remember having to hunt for the Green and White Power Rangers and watching women fight over them. I am SOOOOO glad those days are over.

msu - what age kids do you think? My kids (4 and 6) are dying to see this. We didn't realize it was gonna be a PG-13 film. We've read that there is language (6 or more times), someone giving the middle finger and a scene where mother and son are discussing ummmmm..... self-pleasure. Honestly, the robot "violence" and stuff I can get over, but what did you think of the other things I mentioned. Our kids have seen Harry Potter movies, Pirates of the Caribbean, Fantastic Four and the like, so they don't scare easily. Did you see younger kids in the movie? I'm just eager to get another perspective on the movie. DH may go with his brother tonight to preview and see if the kids can see it or not.

Triple, I dont think its going to hurt the kids we are going to bring our 5 year old newphew to see it next week. When the part with the mother and son come up. people are going to laugh but the kids arent going to know what they are talking about. I saw alot worst when i was younger(i.e. Strips).

Triple, I'm not taking my kids to see is (5&8)... I've just heard it can be rather intense - there are some language spots and I've heard of some kids crying. Everyone knows their own kids levels, though. I just don't think mine would be okay with it.
ETA - Mine have seen the first 2 Pirates and were fine with those. Here's another site that gives a detailed play-by-play that I think helps everyone make a solid decision:

Thanks to both of you! Both of my kids have seen the first two Pirates movies, but when they were on DVD so we could monitor it better, if you know what I mean!
DH and his brother are on their way to the theater right now. They will see it and I will let DH make the final decision. I have told the kids not to get their hopes up.
You are right MSU - they would have no idea what they are talking about regarding the masturbation scene. It's not a word they have ever even heard.
Thanks so much for the link wilson! We have been looking for websites like this, but never came across a good enough one IMO. I knew someone had mentioned a good one before but couldn't find the info. I will check this one out now!
I HATE that they market movies like this to young kids who really can't or maybe shouldn't see them. DS is sitting on the floor next to me playing with his transformers and I'm sad that he may not get to see it!

I totally agree! Why market it to kids and then add sexual innuendo, cursing and sometimes brief nudity? Why does masturbation even need to be a part of a Transformer movie? Ugh.
