This was a REALLY cute movie. I forgot how much I liked the chipmunks when I was a kid. Of course, my kids figured they were new. At the end of the movie, while the credits rolled, they showed the album covers from over the years. (Starting around 1956.)

I highly recommend it for a family movie. I'm ready for a "grown-up" movie now with hubby. There are several out I have not even seen the previews.

Go to IMDB.com and you can watch trailers for any movie you look up. (this is also a great site to get detailed info on what exactly a movie has to make it's rating what it is. Ex: tells you specifically what kind of nudity, drug use or whatever else might make it questionable)
Anyway, I LOVED Alvin and the Chipmunks when I was growing up, too! My favorite stuffed animal/doll ever was my Alvin and he was my 'best friend' when I was a small kid. It's definitely in our plans to go see the movie now that we have Junior home. BTW....Junior's home!!!!!!!!!!:D:D:D He is our oldest (my stepson but love him like one of my own) and just moved back to the States from Germany (YAY) and we got him for the holidays while his other fam is busy moving and stuff back in El Paso. You just can't buy a gift greater than my seeing my little ones so happy to see their biggest bubba! They have missed him and love him so much. He's a really awesome big brother, too. So nice to them and even though he's going on 14, gives them so much attention and plays with them alot. He just makes them tickled to death. So....guess that had nothing to do with Alvin....sorry. :p Since I'm already on an off-topic roll, he also told us that he's made the decision to live with us for the school year after he finishes out this year!!!!!!!!!! We are *so* thrilled.
But yeah, Alvin and the Chipmunks is probably really going to be great! Can't wait to see it. My 4 yr old is always mimicking the "bow-chick-a-wow-wow" part from the previews!

OMG my kids are doing that too and it's driving me NUTS lol.

When I was a kid, my grandma had a record of the Chipmunks singing Christmas songs. We'd all sit around the record player and sing along :).

I listened to the Alvin and The Chipmunks record growing up too. I LOVE them :D

Michelle, that is soooooo great about your oldest son being with you for Christmas! I can't imagine a better Christmas gift for your family. It brings tears to my eyes ::sniff::

It is good news, but I have to admit it is a little bittersweet for me, personally. I am very glad that Junior is here but at the same time sad that MY oldest is not. :( It is the first year we didn't drive up to Mississippi to spend Xmas with him and I couldn't talk his dad into coming down here. I can't talk him into putting my son on a plane alone, either, so....no seeing Lyric this Xmas. Hey, 3 out of 4 of our boys is better than even less, though. At least with the money we saved from not taking the trip this year, we were able to get him that Nintendo DS and some games. Usually we don't have a lot to spend on him after the trip. We'll talk on the phone Xmas morning. His Dad is claiming they may make a trip down here for Lyric's Spring break; we'll see. I definitely hope so, but if not I will have him as soon as he gets out of school for the whole summer.

Thanks! I got such a hard time from everyone for naming a boy that in the beginning but I've noticed it become more common over the years. His Great-Grandfather still teases me by calling him a 'boy named Sue', though. He says it's a song but I never heard it.

The older boys and me are going to see this movie tomorrow while Daddy keeps the baby. I'm looking forward to it!

well we saw it and it was a very cute/funny movie! So parents that took their own to this: how many of your kids laughed hardest at the part where Alvin toots in Dave's face? There was an absolute explosion of child laughter in the theater we were in! I think my son's was the loudest! :o He also got a big kick out of the fact the chipmunks were always watching Sponge Bob in the movie! It wasn't a movie I'd choose to see myself but I do think that Jason Lee (played Dave) is a cutie!

Oh yea, mine were laughing hard too at that part. My youngest even said, after the movie, that was the funniest part.

I agree it wasn't a movie I would have picked out or seen by myself, but as far as having to sit through a kids' movie, this one was good.

Next week, we are going to see Water Horse.

I wouldn't have picked this movie for self, either, but enjoyed it with the kiddos today. I was a little surprised to see some couples just a tad older than me with no kids in tow enjoying the movie. I guess they probably went for the memories.

The girls loved it as much as has been expressed by the rest of you! At one point, I found myself wanting to fall asleep, but it probably wasn't the movie's fault! LOL! It was cute!

Now, we went to a matinee, and it was still $25.00 just to get in for three kids and one adult! Before snacks! Uh, I'm guessing the rest of our "want to see list" will be on DVD. Movies are getting too expensive!

They used to have a child price or student price. They did away with it about a year ago or maybe a little more and then they increased the prices of a movie. We don't go so much anymore and never at night. We try to see everything at Market Street just so we don't have to put up with the kids who are dropped off and can't behave, not all of them can't behave, but the ones who can't make it unpleasant. Also going on early Sat or Sun we can avoid those kids. I don't mind kids, just the ones who can't behave.

If it doesn't look fabulous we usually wait for it to come out on DVD.

We live in Spring, so if we want to take the family to the movies, we go to Tomball. It's an older theater with no frills, but $3.75 per person all the time and they show new movies. It's a bit of a drive from TW, but for us it's about 20 minutes. We get to see more movies that way!

National Treasure 2 was the first movie we have seen since this summer. I think we only saw 3 between May and August.

I just got home from seeing Alvin & the Chipmunks with the kids. Ummm, am I the only one that didn't like this? My kids laughed out loud a few times, and they said they enjoyed it, but I found it almost painful to sit through... no biggie, I wasn't expecting Oscar-quality or anything, but I thought the kids would laugh more. The only part I liked was Theodore curling up on Dave's shoulder to sleep... oh well :)
