It's officially after 10pm and NOT a holiday. Enough with the explosions already!

After leaving the theater tonight around 10:30, I noticed large fireworks going. I am assuming a city nearby was doing their 4th of July fireworks. Kind of odd to me.

I tend to get annoyed when it's days after (or before) the actual holiday. This was a few houses down - I guess my neighbors hit the half-price sales at the fireworks stand . Interestingly enough, they stopped a few minutes after I posted this... maybe they're lurking :p.

We were in the neighbor's hot tub tonight watching that show in your neighborhood, W. They actually had some impressive ones...not just firecrackers.

What can I say? I'm feeling like an old fuddy-duddy tonight :p.

Fireworks are legal in texas right? We aren't legally allowed anything that leaves the ground. So even bottle rockets are out.

They are not legal in TW.:) But TW isn't incorporated (yet) and there probably isn't enough public officer safety and enforcement to do anything about it.

They are not ILLEGAL in TW. It is strongly recommended not to do them. This is straight from Holifield.

Yeah, it's just against the Covenants. So pretty much the same disciplinary actions as painting your house pink :p.

Oh, but you CAN carry a gun on yourself with a permit. That's perfectly legal!

Some places they are, some they aren't. They are legal in my neighborhood and people have been popping them since three days before and still were last night. Our neighbors were popping them until midnight the night of Dave's surgery and it was right outside our window. Dave was not a happy camper about it. About the time I ws finally going to go say something, they stopped. Or passed out. (Natv, you know them, they played on the team.)

I see. But if I were to take them to a field outside of TW, they would be legal I take it? :P

It just depends on the county and/or the weather. If it's a dry season, you'd be in trouble pretty much anywhere ;)

Less consequences for fireworks, there's really not much they can do about it.
But let's be honest, RDRC only picks on those they KNOW will follow the rules. I have seen this in the nearly 20 years I have been here. We have houses that for over 15 years have more than minor violations but those that have mold are the ones who get harrassed

IDK, they were pretty quick to threaten legal action against a neighbor who clearly violated landscaping rules. Not much else out of the ordinary in my neighborhood, so ymmv. BTW, you keep mentioning how long you've been here - you're not the only one. Some of us remember Jamail's, the opening of CC & IS, the party at the bottom of the lake, etc.;) ETA My MIL owned the flower shop in PC in the 80's...

Hey, I'm an old-timer too! Moved here in 1991. Remember when the place to go was the Wharf?
I used to get so mad when we would get a violation for trash cans viewed from the road, but someone on the same block would have run down cars that were obviously not in running condition. Grrrrr.

There is a house close to us which is painted a limish(is that a word) green color with pink trim. We saw a Woodlands representative talking to the owners/renters about it one night. We could tell it wasn't a real pleasant conversation. It's really icky looking and the grass and landscaping is all grown up around it too.

Yes, bench her! LOL And, if I knew it was YOU, I would have come out there and personally kicked your butt. ;)

The only place for colors like that on a house are near the beach!

We are having to jump through major hoops plus put down a bunch of money to get The Woodlands to approve our pool. We need to access our property through the back. Since we back up to one of the ditches that has NO trees or landscaping of any kind we didn't think it would be a big deal, WRONG! Between MUD and The Woodlands and the rain we might be swimming by Christmas! I should have bought a home with a pool already there!

Yeah, I remember that approval process being real fun! They were sticklers about the trees (rightfully so, but still...) and I was glad I'd already cut down about 20 before calling them ;). There's a house that backs up to Kendall Green that is having a pool put in and they came in from the back (KG). There's also one that just finished in Cottage Green that is at the corner of Crownridge and AB Drive - they came in the back as well, but I don't think you can tell at this point.

When you access through the back the MUD district charges you a deposit ours was $1800, all but $100 is refundable. The Woodlands charges you a $1000 deposit and keeps half. They say it is to replace the landscaping which I can see when you are clearing brush next to a path, but we have nothing but weeds behind us and the builders have left ruts from their trucks during construction plus there are still a few homes being built. It is frustrating becasuse others have had landscapers come back and never got permission so when we follow the rules we end up paying for it.
This is our second pool to be built, btw, we had problems with the trees in Alden Bridge but here in Sterling Ridge they pretty much tore them out for us:rolleyes:

What a PITA! That's a lot of money to make sure their weeds & ruts are restored properly . After I wrote that, I left to go pick up my kids - there's a pool that was started today on the Eastbound lanes of RF between AB Drive & Greenbridge. Seems everyone's doing it that way ;). I wonder what they'll do with all the extra money?
