I was mowing this evening at the same time the A/C guy showed up. I was in the back part of the yard on the mower and they were over by the unit which of course, is by the house. A pretty big ribbon snake (the ones I have seen haven't been that "thick") went near me and startled me. It was very near my foot. They normally don't scare me, but for whatever reason this one startled me and I screamed.

Dh told the A/C guy, "Em must have found one of the snakes that lives by the shed." A/C guy laughs. Then, he hears me yell, "SNAKE!" and they both really start laughing since obviously dh was right. They have both been teasing me about it even since. :D I feel silly screaming over a ribbon snake.

But, probably not nearly as silly as our daughter probably feels about screaming over a roach on the patio this evening. She probably alerted the entire neighborhood! :p

LOL FG!

J, I have seen maybe a couple of roaches in the 3 years I've been here.

The ribbon snake that hung out at our pool was thick like that too - I'd thought they were more wirey, but this one was very long and quite thick. Must have plenty to eat back there. I wish he'd come back and take care of all these snails!

Yup, and they FLY! They are referred to as tree roaches here.

jO. the roaches here are enormous. When we first moved here two years ago I about fainted when I saw one. We generally have pest control about every six months and that takes care of them thoroughly. I probably haven't seen but two or three in the last couple years.
