Wow... good question...
Try Louie's off of Rayford across from the Academy. He has a seafood market and a small eatery in there. I've heard good things about Fish Place on 45 (Woodlands side) after the Harley dealer.
I like the butterfly shrimp at Pappas but the closest one is past Greenspoint. I just realized we have a void of basic good seafood places now that Hyden's is gone.

I want butterfly shrimp (big ones) for my birthday and the only place I can think of that specializes in seafood is Red Lobster besides Rock Fish Grill. We went there last year and it was only so-so.
May have to try Pappas. Is it any good?
Ooops, forgot to add that we've been to Landry's too and the seafood was not that great either.

You might try that place beside the Salt Grass on the north feeder. I can't think of the name of it right now. We weren't wild about their fish entrees, but the toppings were good, as were the appetizers. They probably would have decent butterfly shrimp. Try to go during a non-busy hour, though. The building doesn't absorb sound well, and it gets really noisy during peak hours.
I agree, Red Lobster, Landry's, Rockfish, are all just so-so. Husband hated the Fish Place. We so miss Hyden's!
Or, maybe Pappadeaux's? I ate there once when they first opened, but had fish, not shrimp. I seem to recall it was pretty good, but it's been a while, so you might want to ask around for opinions.

I'd say Pappadeaux would be the best.

I like both Babins and Pappadeux. I ordered shrimp at Pappadeux and it was great! I don't remember if it was the big butterfly ones or not. I think it came on a skewer, but not sure. It was our anniversary and we had a really great experience there.

I'd say Pappadeaux would be the best.
They were extremely disappointing when I went there over the holidays. I had shrimp and oysters and the shrimp was watery tasting like it was cheap frozen shrimp. Yuck. The oysters were not completely breaded and overcooked. It wasn't even busy. We have gone there 2 times and will never return because each time it's been awful. I have always loved the Pappas resturants but this one is awful.
Babins on the other had has good seafood. Rockfish even has some great dishes. I haven't been to Red Lobster in so long, who knows if they are good. We tried them once after they opened in the new location but the smoke smell was so bad because their bar is located in the middle of the resturant we haven't been back.

I've been craving Babin's oysters (Rockefeller, but any will do!) all day... yummmmm...
It's owned by Landry's...
