Anyone tried it out yet? It is where Tin Star used to be.

I had this in my folder of places to try when we get to Texas. Here are a couple of good reviews on it.

I've eaten at one in Dallas... this TW location sure is going through a lot of businesses - better try it quick if you're going to!

True, it could be gone by next week.

These Mongolian BBQ places are really good and usually cheap. I got turned on to it while I lived in LA. You get a bowl of frozen meat thinly sliced, hit the salad bar to add veggies and sauces and then give it to the stir fry chef to cook in front of you. When you get back to your table you have rice, spring rolls and other things to go with it.
It's worth checking out. Someone report back!

We tried it and LOVED it! We had some service issues, but they were addressed and handled - and it was nothing horrible anyway. Lunch at $9 isn't something we'd do EVERY day but the amount of food you get for it is definitely worth the money spent. We were going to go again on Saturday night for dinner and the line was out the door (even in the cold!) Will try again another time!

I just can't see paying that much and waiting in line for what is essentially stir-fry. :nah:

Quick reasons why I like it, and would pay the price at least occasionally.
Traditional stir-fry leaves me picking through the vegetables looking for the ones I want (and there are NEVER enough). I'm a picky veggie eater, so knowing EXACTLY what's been put into my stir fry makes for a much easier and stress-free eating experience.
We've bought a bunch of stir fry stuff for home in an effort to re-create the experience for less money and still hardly have the time to cook a meal for the two of us together. Stir-fry at home is great when we're home alone, but we'd rather pay someone else to cook it so we can spend time together when we HAVE the time.
Selection - we're already out of rice at home from our home stir-fry experiment and I can see us running out of more things fast. The availability of multiple things that EACH of us like without a trip to the store is great. Plus, I've been unable to find bean sprouts or water chestnuts FRESH at the grocery stores in town, and I prefer that so much to the canned stuff.
You're right - it's not something that we'll do very often, but I definitely think it is worth it when we can!

Carpe: Have you ever eaten at a Mongolian BBQ before? The two that I have been to in this area were both very good, and like Sonchyenne said, you get to choose what goes into it, so you are sure to like it.

For us, stir-fry items are "leftovers"... whatever veggies didn't get used up during the week get thrown into a stir-fry pan and fried up. I have a ton of various veggies and sauces on hand during the week and we do all sorts of combinations. Then serve over rice or noodles :). If I didn't have the stuff on-hand, then it would be a lot more trouble! A little fish sauce, a little chicken, all the leftover veggies, some soy... yum...
Bean sprouts are kept with the root-veggies... usually on a high shelf in produce. I know for sure Kroger and HEB always have them in stock. Dunno about the water chestnuts - nobody in my family likes them. We use the bean sprouts a lot in Thai dishes and on sandwiches.

The last couple of times that I have been to the HEB they've been completely out of the sprouts. When I ask the stockers if there's more they are bringing out and they look at me like I'm nuts. Don't know what it is, but they just can't seem to keep them in stock. Maybe I'm shopping at the wrong times!

the wife and I have been a few times. The first time we kinda went off their guide and only ate one bowl. Then we learned how to do it. The next time we went we made something different. We were full after that bowl but went up there and made another bowl. The waitress gave us a togo box. We had lunch for tomorrow. We paid may 23 bucks.
BTW try the choclate cake. I am not a big cake eater, But it was christmas eve the night we went. So i told my wife we would get one slice. ouch
