Bad news: finally got a ticket for that stupid car inspection problem. Shenandoah police and he even got me for failure to show proof of insurance .
Good news: My pool company, who I've bad-mouthed everywhere on the Internet for the last 3 years, is out here right this second replacing the waterfall pump UNDER WARRANTY. I'm getting charged $80 for labor since it was apparently an ant problem that caused the motor to fail, but I'll certainly take this!

That stinks! Probably cause it's Friday the 13th, lol. I usually let my inspection go for a few months, but maybe not this year! It's due next month.
But, good news on the pool! Even if you have bad mouthed them, they probably deserved it. Glad to see that they got it right one time!

My inspection had been out a year! We tried to have it inspected last month, but it failed, so we lost a bit of money on that too. Dh finally found a repair kit for the problem - online it's $150 and I hope he'll order it soon. It's far less than the $900 we were quoted to replace the manifold. But now we're creeping back up with the cost... I think the (failed) inspection was $75, I don't know how much these tickets are going to cost me, the repair kit is $150 + shipping, and dh will have to spend a weekend working on it. Anything else comes up and we're closing in on that $900 .
Let's just say that the pool company hasn't been all that helpful in the past. I couldn't believe they showed up today like was promised, and I about fell over when the guy said he'd replace it!

What a pain. I can't even count the number of tickets I've gotten for expired stickers. Worst one was the time I made my own and got nabbed.

Made your own? ROTFLMAO!!!!!!
You are a brave woman! Funny, but brave!
The kids all had dental appointments today, so I was worried! But, no cavities, stellar check ups. Chick Filet was wrapped up so I couldn't give them their promised meal out reward, and the meat market was out of brisket that husband has been requesting, but but other than that, it's really been a pretty good day.
I even made some headway on laundry!
Of course, I really don't believe in "luck," good or bad. I did have a dream last night of some lady walking under a ladder over and over again. Maybe it was "herself." LOL!

OHMYGAWD, that is hilarious! Like you design it and stuck it to your windshield? TOO FUNNY! How much did you pay to get out of that one?
What a rebel.

If I have one more parent call me to register their son for tomorrow's bowling event at the last minute, THEY are going to have an unlucky Friday the 13th!

Hmmppphh. I actually called my FIL last week to take my car to get inspected. The sticker was expired and I've been ordered by the court in College Station to behave myself for 90 days (I was ticketed for speeding). They sent me a notice with all sorts of dire warnings about being pulled over for any reason before September. I just knew if I drove it myself I would get pulled over.
We had a quiet day here, but I think that my life is about to radically change. Little Bit has started to take a few steps.:)

That stinks, Wilson. :(
Mine was a mixed bag but mostly outstanding.
I got stuck behind some boob in the turn lane at the intersection of Kuykendahl @ Woodlands Parkway. He had stopped too far back to be on the rollover so I and many other cars behind sat through several light cycles with no bloody turn arrow because this guy wouldn't pull up. I kept trying to get him to pull up just enough to get onto the rollover but nothing short of nudging him would do it so I finally had to back up a little to get around him at the next green light and then pull in front of him. There was enough room for me to safely do that!
I met cgwoolfe today. What a wonderful character! :)
I was contracted by a company for the next 30 days to be the Network Administrator for their local data center that serves North & South America, Canada & Hawaii. It's one of four international data centers. They made me an offer I couldn't refuse and said that at the end of 30 days I could expect them to make another offer to extend the contract at an even more potentially rewarding rate with the possibility of occasional travel to the other data centers. So I'm walking on air.

I used crayons.
We didn't get a ticket because we were the only people the cop pulled over that late January Saturday night that had not been drinking. We did have to park the car and walk home. Twas 7 miles. Froze my ass off.
edited to add:
Pre cell phone days - couldn't call anyone. Not a pay phone to be found anywhere.

This may be a bad question, but what is this inspection thing you guys are talking about?

J: Once a year, you have to go have your car inspected to make sure it is a safe vehicle. Horn blows, not letting off a lot of smog into the atmosphere, no "may pop" tires, no windshield breaks that could threaten visibility, rear view mirrors all there, etc....... Just general stuff that most people would keep up to date on their vehicles, anyway. Inspections are, I think, around $40 and are good for a year. The "sticker" has the expiration date clearly visibile, and that sticker has to be in the lower front, driver side windshield. Right under the vehicle registration sticker. Also has to be renewed every year, but that can be done through the mail or in some counties, on line. That cost is based on the value of the car, I believe. We pay around $70 per year for each of our vehicles for that.
You could try to color your own, I guess. LOL!!!!

I would imagine if I still have my michigan plate on it, I wouldn't get pulled over. But since I will probably re-register my car within a week of getting there, I'm sure I will find out everything then.

Yep. All states are different with the car registration/inspection thing. Hardly anything to stress over.
Welcome, in advance, to Texas!

Yea, I started reading through some of the different things on the texas.gov website. I noticed you guys have two license plates. Not sure how that is going to work with my car. :P
