Just curious. Are they a franchise? I ask because it seems like I have seen that name a lot lately.

Well, keep your eyes open for another computer service company called "The Knack." LOL! He's not quite ready to advertise on a wide spread basis, though.

Which service is at Best Buy? Geek something.

Best Buy's is Geek Squad. I'd be more apt to contact a person that operates a small business through their home, like Sysgoddess. I just prefer to support that type of business.

I so agree with supporting small independents whenever possible. They just have more to gain by providing top notch service. I was under the impression Mobile Geeks is an independent, as well as Ledgestone. I like having a choice of independents, as well, and not feeling like I have to depend on a large chain.

I completely agree! I just knew Best Buy's service had a name with Geek in it and couldn't remember what it is.

The Mobile Geeks are independently owned and operated. Somewhat of a franchise, I believe. No, no VW's. He drove his Jeep.

Well, whatever anyone "out there" in Cyberland decides to do, I'd advise staying away from Best Buy as far as computer problems goes.
I somewhat laughed when husband got his first check today, but the employee told me, "Hey, Best Buy's service staff looked at it, charged us and couldn't fix it. He did fix it!" She also complained that several independents never called her back when she tried to get help through them. Evidently, these companies are overloaded. This appears to be a wide open career field for anyone who has the motivation.
If anyone is looking for a business to go into, this is it, if you have "the knack" for that sort of thing.
