The Education for Tomorrow Alliance hosts "Sci://Tech 2008 - INNOV 8"

Judges are needed for both the Jr High and High School divisions.

Senior High fair will be 2/16 from 7:30am - 11am at Conroe High School

Junior High fair will be 2/22 from 5:30pm - 9pm at Montgomery College (you can judge the public or private schools) with the judge's training starting at 4:30pm.

I will be at both events judging and would LOVE to see some familiar faces there! You can judge in Behavioral/Social Life sciences, Biochemistry/Microbiology, Botany, Environmental Science, Medicine Health, Zoology, Chemistry, Comoputer Science, Earth Space Science, Energy & Transportation, Engineering, Mathmatics, or Physics - and you do NOT have to be a whiz in any area to judge.

More info on EfTA can be found at www.efta-us.org

Contact me if you would like more information or if you would like a registration form!

That would be interesting to go to. Although I don't think I would be a good judge on that stuff.

I can only imagine what kids come up with now for projects. I would always make the lame ones about not using drugs and just put some flour in a baggie and roll what I thought looked like a joint!

my wife and I have done it the last 5 or 6 years, for the Jr High event

it's fun

don't be intimidated by your lack of knowledge, none of these kids are doing a Grand Unified Theory of Everything or developing a post-industial theroy of capitalism. They're just doing nice, simple projects. You go around, view their displays, read their abstracts and ask some questions based on the abstract or just your own curiosity. Mostly, you are trying to see if they have thought out things, if they know what they did and most important, that they and not their parents, did the work. That's where the questions come in. You allow for nervousness, but they should know what they did and why.

Kind of nice to see some kids thinking their way through life...

give it a try
