What do you and your family do for Lent? What are your traditions?

We add something that is more Spiritual for our family. I've tried abstaining, but never make it the 40 days and end up feeling guilty.

Lent good time to have spiritual "check-up", "self-analysis". Take some corrective Action. What am I doing that maybe hurting, negatively affecting others.

Good time to start and continue doing something new and/or different for family/strangers. Really let people know you care. Be earnest.

OK preaching done! :)

When my wife went to Mass Wednesday, the Priest had some good ideas. He said don't flaunt what you are giving up, it's not about that, it's about what you do. He also said don't do something that can cause irritation to others. He related a story of a place he once worked. He said a co worker quit smoking for Lent, as any smoker knows that can cause a bad attitude until the cravings leave. From what he said, the boss told the guy to either start smoking again or he was fired. The guys attitude was so bad because of not smoking he made everybody else miserable.

To sum it up do what makes you feels good and has no adverse effect on others.:)

Your wife attends Church with Priest who is excellent homolist.

Know someone I wish had been with her! (No, not you) :)

I looked up homolist and have not found a good explanation. Can you tell me a little more what that means? Just out of curiosity. I have never heard of that before.

Chances are it's just poor spelling. Dictionary.com lists "homilist" as someone who writes or delivers a homily.

and homily:
hom·i·ly (hŏm'ə-lē) Pronunciation Key
n. pl. hom·i·lies

A sermon, especially one intended to edify a congregation on a practical matter and not intended to be a theological discourse.
A tedious moralizing lecture or admonition.
An inspirational saying or platitude.

LOL! Not possible, they would be out of communion. Still funny, though...
