It's good, go see it. But be prepared to spend 3 hours sitting in a theater! The movies does flow nicely so you don't think to look at your watch.
I won't spoil the ending, but basically the crew goes on a mission to find Jack (if you haven't seen no. 2, you should rent it to get up to speed). After they find Jack they have a pirate meeting where pirates from all over the World convene.
Fantastic scenery and special effects. The costumes are amazing and they are all very dirty (down to their rotting teeth) in this one. There's also a cameo appearance by Keith Richards... and the dog is back!

Pirates 2&3 have been too convoluted for me to fully get. It really helped to read the Wiki page this morning... cleared a lot up:
Warning: There may be spoilers, read at your own risk!

Make sure you stay at Pirates 3 until _after_ the credits have finished rolling!

My daughter and her husband saw it Friday night. They were surprised how long it was though. Do you think a 7 yr old is too young to see it?

Okay there is one scene where Davey Jones sticks his tentacles through the head of one of the bad guys to kill him. I thought that was a little graphic, no blood or guts (this is Disney after all) but perhaps a little too much for very little ones?

Did your youngest son see it? If he was cool with it, I know my youngest son would be cool with it.

No not yet, but I think he would be fine with it. I might warn him that there some gross or scary parts and offer to sit next to him. Due to the length of the film, we might wait until it comes out on video for them to watch.

Did you know it is playing at the Showboat drive-in in Tomball? That and Meet the Robinsons. A three hour movie is much more tolerable at a drive in. :D

I have been coerced into going this afternoon. I really wish it wasn't three hours though. Too bad it isn't sunny. We would be at Splashtown.
Edited to add: GREAT movie. I didn't think it was too violent for my 7 yr old at all. Even my mom enjoyed it. I do think the movie could have been cut in time by cutting out the scene with Jack and the crabs and making the last fight scene shorter. I was getting bored during the fight scene. They could have easily cut 20-30 minutes off of the show with those two scenes. All in all though it was a great movie!

We are thinking of taking our 2 to see it. They have seen the first 2 and they are 4 and 6. It all depends on the child. Some will be scared and others will not!

My boys are 5 & 8 and would love to see it. But I did some quick calculations and I would guess that my 5yo would need to go the bathroom no less than 6 times in that 3 hours. So we're going to wait for the DVD :)

Today I heard that there are several deleted scenes that better help explain the ending (the tag after the credits finish rolling) and Will's fate. I think they should have cut some of the fighting scenes a little short and explored the storyline more in-depth. At any rate, I can't wait for the DVD and to see those deleted scenes!

I didn't understand A LOT of the movie since I hadn't seen the 2nd one. We own it, so I may watch it.

I didn't read this until after we saw the movie. We left before the credits rolled. :(

The guy sitting next to me hadn't seen #2 as well, but his kids had "filled him in", or he thought. We re-watched #2 the night before seeing EOTW, just in case. I was glad we did! The storyline does flow nicely between the 3 movies. I really don't know how anyone could enjoy it fully without seeing each one! Definitely watch it, since you have it!

I hardly ever go to the theater, but I did see this over the weekend. It was good, but confusing. I definitely wished I had re-watched 1 & 2 first. Wilson, thanks the Wikipedia link! It does have spoilers, I would recommend waiting to read it until after seeing the movie. It tied everything up for me after the fact just fine.
As far as the little ones - my favorite website is http://kids-in-mind.com/. It helped me tremendously when my daughter was at the between PG & PG-13 age. I always remember how different "Sweet Home Alabama" and "Just Married" were, though both were rated PG-13. I didn't mind my daughter seeing the first one at 10yo, but not the second. I say read up on Pirates, though this website can contain spoilers also. I almost say the younger the better, because some things will just go over the smaller ones' heads.
I wound up looking away during the tentacles through the head scene Lon Cheney mentioned btw.

When he stuck it in his mouth, I figured he would just gag him, not impale him! That WAS pretty gross.
Spoiler Alert: Highlight the next few lines if you want to read it.
The most disturbing scene to me was the very beginning when they were hanging everyone. And, then to have the little boy walk up. That really broke my heart.

**shudder** I took my then 9-year-old nieces to see the 2nd one when it came out. I was very unhappy with the first scenes in it. I really wasn't thrilled with the movie choice, but their mother approved, so we went.
Unless I'm with the nieces or nephews, I won't see the third until it comes out on video.

My husband and I went to see the movie over the weekend. I thought it was good. I liked better than the second, I just felt that one left you hanging! We had two families sit by us, each with small children and they did fine with the movies. A little noisy once in a while but you can't expect small kids to sit quiet for 3 hours! It was good, from time to time it was hard to understand what they would say. There accents were thick and they would yell and talk fast!

I always leave the captioning on at home (another reason why I'd rather just get a DVD than go to the movie) and after Pirates 3 I wondered what to they do for the hearing impaired at the movies? I think they should just have captioning be standard - I really don't understand why it's not. It makes it so much easier to not miss a lot of the humour.
