Figured it couldn't hurt to try and see if anyone here would be interested. I'm doing the AIDS Walk March 9th. I've done these for years back when I used to actively volunteer in the group homes but never before in Houston. I happen to be walking with a dear friend this year who is living with the disease so I hope I can bring *something* to the table. I've solicited only neighbors so far and unfortunately got either cut off at the mention of "AIDS" or one particular speech about how they would never put a dime towards "Queers." :rolleyes:
The beneficiaries are not only "queers" but many, many Houstonians living with the disease, including women and children. You can read exactly what the proceeds go to from the link I will provide.
I am not *required* to be sponsored or have contributed anything just to walk but I'd like to try so along side some mass-emails I'll be sending friends and family, I request any of you to think about it. A dollar is just as important as 100 of them.

Ya know what? People typically carry signs, banners, or pictures but I'm not with a team and the person I'm supporting will be next to me. I'm thinking I should carry something with TalkoftheWoodlands.com. All the donations have come from people on here so far, after all. The least I could do is a little promoting, huh? WDYT, Wilson? I'd be willing to wear the website's name on my back if you want. There will be a lot of people out there! :)

I'm excited to be participating in the Walk soon. Sure hope the weather will be nice! I want to thank everyone on here that supported me with kind words as well as those who donated to the cause. Only two other people that I know and are NOT from TOTW ended up contributing so far; I was asked to remove the ticker showing names and amounts because one was uncomfortable having hers displayed. Still, TOTW members are responsible for 90% of my fundraising and I will be so proud to turn in my slip when I register! I wrote my name on it and then followed it with a comma and the URL here because I felt like we're sort of doing this like a team. (Shameless plugging!) Maybe next year we *could* register together as a team and some of yall walk with me!
Now...is there a t-shirt or sign ready for me yet:D? 3 more days!

Well, I never got around to taking a picture and posting them. Perhaps tonight.

Last night was crazy busy with scouts again. Plus, ds needed a cardboard horse made for the Rodeo parade at school today. The paint wouldn't dry because of the humidity! Ugh. Turned out cute though.

I have to shop for groceries for a camping trip tomorrow, but other than that, I don't have much going on tonight. It will be nice to chill for awhile. :) Hopefully I will get that picture taken and posted.

I DID!!!! The funny thing is that I don't have a clue who that latest contributor was! I myspace'd, mass emailed and hit all you guys up on here. Who knows where this mystery person came from; I appreciate them anyway! If you know who you are and it was you, Thank You! ;)
