My 8yo ds wants to try basketball. Where is an Upward program and when does it usually start? I've tried both the UpWard site and the TWUMC site. Does anyone here have some information or a direct link?

Wilson:
A friend from Crosby has really spoken highly of the Upward program. They do different things during different times of the year -- basketball, soccer, etc. In her area, Upward is sponsored by a Baptist church, but here it is the Methodist church at Grogan's Mill that sponsers the program. I haven't fully checked into it yet, but it is definitely on the back burners of my mind.
I've enrolled my girls in a basketball camp sponsored by Oak Ridge Baptist Church, starting Aug. 6th. The cost is only $10, and that includes their t-shirt! I think it is only for four nights, for 1st through 6th graders. The fourth night is the exhibition game, after they've learned the rules of the game and have had some practice. For $10, you can't beat that price! It may be a local effort rather than a program like Upward, but if it is fun for them and they get some exercise, and learn something they have been interested in, anyway, I don't care if it is a national program or not! But, I plan on checking into Upward pretty soon!

Try First Baptist, one of my kids played there a few years back. I think they still have it. Also, a friend of mine had her daughter at the the Methodist church.
I called my friend and she said call First Baptist and the Methodist they can tell you when registration is. She did tell me that the Methodist plays 1/2 court and the Baptist plays full court.
