Any suggestions for a good PCP?
I like mine okay, but he is a pain to get in to see, and I always wind up seeing a different PA. I wouldn't care if it was just the sniffles or something, but I need someone to monitor my blood pressure, and seeing the PA's made them not very responsive to my insistence that I was going to have more children and they needed to be careful about what they were prescribing me. I ended up waiting until I had a positive pregnancy test and then calling my OB for a script change. Not excited about going back to the old office after this one is born.

If you have bp issues where frequent monitoring is a must, I would recommend going to drug store and purchasing a digital bp machine. They are very dependable. Just make sure you buy the good kind where you push a button and it automatically inflates...not the older kind where you have to pump it.
DH and I must monitor ours almost daily (rest of our lives) so the expense of the monitor is minor compared to time-consuming expensive doctor visits. I keep mine on an excel spread sheet which I can print out and take to any doc I happen to be going to at the moment.
AND if your doc is that inconvenient and unconcerned, I would surely get a new doctor. Do you have to be selective based on your insurance? Or can you choose just any doctor?

I have a machine here at the house already. I just need someone so that I have access to a prescription that is appropriate for me. Luckily, I have changed insurance in the last year, and no longer have to be selective.

BD: I'm afraid I can't give you a personal opinion of this doc because I haven't yet made an appointment with her. However, a friend of mine recommended her to me and had comments such as him often being able to get same-day appointments and was never made to wait long when he needed a prescription. He'd just call her office, leave the message and then get his script pretty much the same day w/o having to come in and see her.

BD, I really like Dr. Marlow at Alden Health Center. Wilson said she'd had a bad experience there on another post, but I haven't (at least not yet :) I try to avoid going to the Dr. if at all possible, but the the times I have been, have been good experiences. I even ended up with a really bad UTI one weekend and had to page him. He called me back within about 5 min, and immediately called me in an rx, which I had in my hands within the hour. So, so far, he's been good. There was a mix-up once, some confusion between his staff and my mailorder (MEDCO is a nightmare, but that's another thread), but I'm not sure who was really more at fault. His staff has been friendly with me every time, and I'm sure that they were getting sick of hearing from me being the go-between with the two. That's been my only issue.
