I don't know if you've already gotten an estimate on the TV, but - I remember having to reset our projection TV at one point... the lenses get out of whack or something and I cannot think of the term, like configuration but that's not it... anyway, there should be some kind of button to reset it... it may be on the back or even behind a panel or something.

The shadow only appears sometimes. I looked online and I beleive it needs a new conversion board or somwthing like that.
Our house is smaller than our old house and the TV was just too big for us anyway. Same with the entertainment center. Our kids have allergies and I felt it was just better to get rid of the two.
