View Full Version : Your favorite mixed drink??

We have been trying different drinks to see which we like. I came up with one tonight that we (dh and friends) all REALLY like. We named it the Random Blonde (those that stayed late at my b-day party will know what I am talking about, lol).

RANDOM BLONDE

8 oz Coolah Energy Drink (Lemon)
1 oz Jaegermeister
1 oz Raspberry Vodka
1 oz Orange Rum
Splash of Grenadine
Splash of Lime Juice
Shake and serve cold.

YUMMY. This is NOT a strong drink. Very light and citrus tasting. (Makes four servings.)

What is YOUR favorite mixed drink??

My favorite mixed drink is a Margarita that someone else has made! LOL! And, I don't like a strong tequilla taste. Husband has started telling our waiter to use the cheap stuff, and not much of it. LOL! One waiter even brought me a container of that sour mash to the table so I could cut the flavor to my own liking.

My SIL makes a great Bloody Mary! She uses vodka, V8, Worcestershire, and maybe something else. I don't know her recipe, but they are good!

But, Margarita is still my favorite.

I don't like to taste the alcohol either. Especially Tequila. Why does he tell them to use the cheap stuff? The better the alcohol the smoother the taste. (And less of a hangover.)

I don't know. Uneducated, I guess! :)

But, I'll keep that in mind the next time we are out and about!

This is true. We've been drinking Don Julio for a couple of years now and everyone we serve it to can tell the difference. At first, it was killing my dh that I would use it for margaritas - he'd gripe "That's the sipping kind!" LOL! Oh well!

I make a "Margarita Baked Chicken" that calls for tequilla. The guy at the liquor store told me I should use the clear, rather than the gold, tequilla for cooking, so that is what I've been doing. I also buy the cheapest kind, in the smallest bottle, that I can find, because the recipe doesn't call for much. But, now I'm wondering if the recipe wouldn't be better with a better tequilla?

You're going to have to bring that bottle of Jäger over so I can try that recipe!

You sound like my dh - he likes gin & tonic, beer, etc. The simple stuff!

Whitecap Margarita

That sounds good.

Thanks for the mojito recipe! My dh goes to Latin America occasionally and brings back rum so I'll try this next time.

The coconut margarita sound good too. Maybe he'll get down to Mexico for some tequila. It's so expensive here that he usually brings it back from out of the country. Belize is a great place to get alcohol it's very cheap!

It's funny - we went to my inlaws for dinner tonight and they had Mojitos there waiting for us... maybe she's reading the forums ;).

All of our tequila came from Mexico... dh had a project down there a couple of years ago and spent about 9 months, coming back to Houston only on the occasional weekend. We stocked 3 cases of that Don Julio in our pantry! Sadly, we're finally down to less than 2 bottles. No, we didn't drink it all lol - we gave a lot of it for gifts.

I had to ask other friends to help. I meant to put them in a neat little line, one after another, but I've goofed lining them up. Sorry!

That snow cone sounds REALLY good. I had a few Water Moccasins last night. I haven't looked up what was in them yet though. They were good, but I hate the name.

Yeah! lol! Ewww! That just brings up all sorts of horrid visuals. What are people thinking when they come up with these names??? Dh is making me margaritas now...

Well this post sure stirred up some interest, LOL. I don't like sweet drinks at all so my old standbys for everyday drinking is scotch and soda, gin martini, very dry, and margarita.

But I've been wanting to try a mojito or however you spell it. I also like cosmopolitans once in a great while.

Snow Cones... I bought the stuff for this today, except that I didn't realize that the "Mixer" wasn't already mixed with the 3 flavors, I was going to have to buy one of each. I knew I had some flavors at home already and wanted to check before buying almost the same thing, but I did buy the Mango flavor. One shot of the Mango is okay, but fairly bland. I tried 2 shots and it's better. But adding these flavors in just bumps up the calories, so I'm back where I started, or near.

I still want to try the snowcone. It sounded REALLY good today when I was talking to you and it was so hot outside!

I love a Tequila Sunrise. I looked up a lot of drinks online. What is up with the pornographic names of drinks? I can't even say most of them out loud with most people.

I prefer a nice dark rum in my cherry coke.

I'm with you on the names FG.

My favourite is a tiratini that I had at Macaroni Grill a while back and now make at home. I'll have to dig out the recipe & post it if anyone is interested.

Yes, I'm interested!

Yes, please post it Sys. Hubby is now obsessed with Water Moccasins. We so have to rename them though.

Lately I have just been having Vanilla or Black Cherry Vodka in my Coke. Nice and simple.

Wilson, how was the snowcones you made the other day?

Wilson

They're okay. It just takes so much of the flavoring and I keep thinking about the calories... sigh.

Here's the Water Moccasin recipe. Dh made a few for tonight and they are VERY good:

WATER MOCCASIN

1 oz peach schnapps
1 oz Crown Royal® Canadian whisky
1 dash triple sec
1 oz sweet and sour mix

Wilson

That does look good. I'd say it sounds good, but it doesn't :p. It looks nice to drink ;). I'm working on a Seven&7 tonight, since my bartender is out of town.

Hey Sysgoddess - You never posted the recipe for the taratini. Or did I miss it?

FamilyGal
08-28-2007, 10:49 AM
It has a light peach taste and not strong at all. I can see why someone called it a Water Moccasin because it has foam on the top and quite a BITE. Although it doesn't taste strong, it is almost pure alcohol. I only had two last night and even those were small (martini sized) and I was feelin' it. No more than two for me unless the weekend. :)

yeah, my DH complains at me because I will only drink premium tequillas. Patrone or better, for smoothness and hangover reasons. Unfortunately each shot is usually about 7-10 bucks depending on where we go.
I still would rather have that than the nasty, gold, cheap crap. Eeech. Just pass me a headache in a glass, then.

whoops; still learning how this board works! I thought I was replying to the margarita drinker down the line, not being posted as the latest message!

Same here. I won't drink Tequila anymore unless it is the "good" stuff. I'll never forget the hangover I had with my husband and brother-in-law using a jackhammer to pull up our old patio. It was right outside my window and excrutiating! LOL
