It's lot better than some other stories I've heard lately. I just don't get it. And we went to Carrabba's Saturday night and when searching for a parking spot, the kids spotted about 4-5 kittens playing in the parking lot. I can't stand feral cats. I don't understand people that just dump animals like that.

We are taking these babies, they are arriving Thursday.

Feral kittens can be rehabilitated, it's the adults that not much can be done other than capture and spay/neuter

Rosa, My mom (who lives in the country) has a bunch of kittens she swore up and down were wild and couldn't be handled, until I showed up with my kiddos. Within a day, those kittens were being hauled all over the place, being cuddled in laps, and before we left, running to meet the kiddos when they came out of the house.

The adult cats weren't feral, just tame strays (or abandoned animals) that decided Mom's house would be their new domain. They are all sweethearts! Mom is getting them spayed and neutered as fast as she can, but she is about to have an overpopulation problem, anyway! She lives a state away, and I'm not really sure what I can do to help her.

They weren't baby kittens, more like teens, I guess. It's good to hear that they can be rehabilitated - I didn't know. Really, my only experience with feral cats was when one of my neighbors delayed having her cat spayed and every feral cat in The Woodlands showed up! Ewwww.

We have a stray living in our front yard right now. The boys started feeding it, so of course, it isn't leaving. If it stays, I feel responsible to get it shots, etc... Otherwise, I guess I should take it to the pound?

In this heat, that is just awful to box up an animal like that! Grrrr.

What would be horrible is if the person dumped them in the woods, a dumpster, or harmed them. Leaving them on a doorstep where they would be found and taken care of is actually a good situation. I guess they could have taken them to the pound where they would have a good chance of being put down and living in a cage. Look a the positives of the situation. I see ,ore positives than negatives in this situation. Plus the box had holes on the sides for air movement.

We are needing a foster home for these two babies. The shelter tried to separate them and they were misserable apart. Very happy when reunited. So if anyone can foster these babies, please let me know.

Candleman, I'm sorry but it was very irresponsible for them to do that. The dogs ended u in the shelter anyway as the person whose porch they left on, took them them. I don't understand people who get animals and they dump them. Never will but I know not every feels like I do about animals.

I'm not saying it is the "best" situation, but it could have been much worse. Heartless IMO was a tad strong since they did leave it with someone instead of the much worse alternatives. But, thanks to folks like you they will find a good home. 2dogs and one cat here so I can't be of any help. Our Catahoula doesn't really like other dogs...imagine that. All of our pets have been pound puppies, except for the cat, it was abandoned by the momma cat. We had to feed it with a dropper for a good while and give it enemas so it didn't explode lol. The vet didn't give it much chance of surviving, but said we were welcome to try. Well, 15 years later the son of a gun is still as spunky as ever.

I had to Google "Catahoula" - sounds like an interesting and beautiful dog!

We have 2 rescues (Gretchen came from GSD Rescue Houston and Sophie the Cat is from Homeless Pet Placement League many years ago), but we bought Nora the GSD puppy from one of dh's coworkers, sigh...

There is no doubt they are interesting dogs. Probably not recommended for the every day dog owner. They are very stubborn when young. He is a very loyal dog and very protective of his home and property. But, with us and family he is a big softy and very loveable, loves to cuddle and show much love. The blue eyes are pretty neat. he is a full bred and was not supposed to be adopted out. We didn't find this out until he went back to get snipped and the vet at the pound was not happy with the girls that adopted him out. I guess he thought it should go to a rescue so it could be a working dog. What I have read, the breeders are very adamant about not messing with the breed, or neutering. It took a long time to get this breed to be such a good loyal working dog they don't want the breed messed with.

After we had him home it would have been crushing to let him go back. The other dog is a mix of a lab and a small dog we think. They were in the cage together at the pound and cried when the other was removed from the cage. I wasn't there but my wife could not take one without the other so she surprised me and came home with them both. here is a goofy pic of the 2.

Sounded naughty to me.

I see what you are saying CM, but I've never been accused of looking at the bright side. ;)

Awww, CM, you ARE a nice guy! I would have never imagined you willingly giving enemas to kitties to help them. ;) (j/k)

LOL...Well, when rubbing their butt with a warm cloth doesn't work it's time to use a premi ET tube and a little KY. Works wonders lol

CM, you made me laugh, in all my years of helping critters, i have never had to give an enema, lmao.

Eagle, that is wonderful what your mom is doing!

Wilson, it depends how long they've been on their own. Sometimes all you can do is fix them release them.

FG, I have a low cost Vet and will gladly meet you there, if you decide to take this kitty under your wing, call me

Ok guys, I have new pics of these two nuts playing/sleeping, it's just too cute.

Irresponsible pet owners really piss me off. My husband would have to kill me because if i found those two cuties on my porch they'd probably never leave our house again except to go to the vet.

Amen. I've had 2 feral kitties that were found as kittens/adolescents - one had to be trapped to save her and the other was found sick & dehydrated on the roadside and they've both turned out to be wonderful animals although Cujo/Cartman still has some issues if he gets overstimulated.

I'm thinking that anyone who would keep these animals if they were on their doorstep should probably consider adopting, or at least fostering.

The very best pets I've had have been those I wasn't expecting. They adopted me! Or, my family.

But, I hope that doesn't encouarge anyone to drop any pets on my doorstep! Honestly, we have a full house!

Said kitty would undoubtedly find its way back across that busy interstate to its favourite mommy of all, FG. :p

Apparently she invited her friend to stay as well. I came home just now to find a long-haired white kitty lounging on the front porch. I went to pet it though and it ran for the hills! I'm sure he/she will be back as long as their is food on the front porch. My boys keep the water and food filled for the strays.
