View Full Version : "Insider" posts?

Sometimes when I am in the main forum list I see the most recent thread listed as one thing, but when I go into that forum that thread doesn't exist! Are there certain "insider" threads that only some people can see?

I'm going to see if I can get these two screen shots to work. You can see that I can see the "Tomball 100 years" post listed but when I go into the section, it is not an option. Anyone else having this problem?

Holy crap. I went back and edited these posts and that is not even showing up? What is going on with the boards??? I'm confused!

I can see your edits. The threads will look different depending on if you are logged out or in - the order of the posts, etc.

There are no closed forums here. At all.

It's set up that if you edit your post within something like 2 minutes, the "edited at 8:30a" blurb won't show up. If you edit in that short amount of time, nobody else will see that you edited the post. It's just to give everyone the benefit of the doubt that it was edited quickly for spelling mistakes or whatever.

Try adjusting your "display modes" - there is a little button at the top right of the thread.

At first I couldn't figure it out but then realized in the top section that's threaded you have to scroll down to see all the posts. Plus, if you click on a post that is an answer to your post then that may be all you are seeing.

That's a good point, thanks! I was using the Hybrid option until this thread this morning and now I'm trying the threaded view. I'm liking that I get that "preview" of the entire thread up at the top and I have to click on each reply to read them - it makes reading them in order so much easier. I like the threaded views so I can see who replied to what - that never makes sense in Linear views, unless everyone always uses quotes.

I like that too that you can reply to a particular poster and not have to use quotes. I like the hybrid because you can see both the threaded view and the linear too.

I really like that you can put a reason for editing. Most of the time I edit when I think of something else to add to my thought or because I felt that my post was too "wordy". I do read it before I click submit, but sometimes I click submit too quickly.
