Does anyone know of a person or company that would pick up an old non-working fridge? It has now been in my garage for a year - I don't want to have to pay for someone to come out and sticker it then haul it to the end of the driveway- am looking for any other options...
thanks!

Can you list it as a giveaway on Craig's List or Freecycle?
Welcome to TOTW, Bonkers :).

thank you Wilson! Glad to be here, it is nice and cozy! :)
I may end up doing that, however I'm a little uneasy about giving out home information to strangers and offering items for sale/free. I did that in the past and regretted it.
I guess I was hoping someone may know of a legit company that hauls junk appliances, or an individual they know of...so I wouldn't have to feel uneasy about a stranger danger thing.

This list is put out by TW... scroll all the way to the bottom and it lists several telephone numbers for various forms of pickup. Maybe one of them is the right one for this, or could help point you in the right direction...
I feel the same way about CL... you just never know who is going to show up and what their real intentions are.

Are you making money now taking pictures? You are definitely good enough! I still haven't decided with DSLR to buy and am still snapping away with my Kodak Z650. Which I love, BUT still want a DSLR.

Thank you! Oh geez, I wish I was...I have had plenty of "jobs", friends children, weddings and showers etc...though, it is all good, if I were to get paid for it I probably wouldn't enjoy it nearly as much cause then it would be a job instead of a hobby. I really enjoy taking pics of my friends kids, mine are so sick of a camera they just make ugly faces when they see me with it. ;)
I LOVE LOVE LOVE my Canon Rebel, I bought a new IS lens for it which put me back quite a bit :o, but I'm very happy with it. I pick up my old Canon S3IS and am amazed at the difference! Once you go DSLR....you will be spoiled!
Vacation was fantastic this summer with a nice drive to San Antonio, New Braunfels, Austin and Galveston....stopped at many places along the way for photo opps! My vacations now center around what new and interesting finds I can locate off the beaten paths. There is so much to see, so much history and beauty if ya just leave the highways!

My kids are totally the same way! They run when they see the camera. And, they are sick of stopping the car for me to take a picture of something I see...lol
I am going to ask for a DSLR for Christmas. Santa knows how much I love taking pictures and enjoys the end products.
One of my pictures from San Antonio will be used in one of their tourist guides. It isn't even that great of a picture, but I was flattered they ask. I have had one other from Flickr that Habitat for Humanity used in New Orleans for a mass mailout. Again, I didn't think it was "that" great of a picture and was thrilled they used it for their postcard.

What is DSLR? and while we are on the subject of cameras...I have not gone to any stores yet but have kind of looked around online. I'm in the market for a new camera. I think my Toshiba is a good camera but I've never understood it that well and would prefer something smaller and easier...and frankly there are so many brands and kinds out there, I'm confused. And I don't want a real expensive one because I am such a novice. The only brand I know of that I will definitely boycott is the Canon. They may make wonderful cameras but their printer/fax/scanners are awful and I had bad experiences with their "service" techs so I won't be buying that brand for any item they make. Other than that I'm wide open. FG you say you like your Kodak - is it easy to learn - like point and click and voila you have a nice picture?

My Kodak is point and click, but not what you are looking for. It is bigger and can have filters and other lenses added to it. I love it because of that and have several different filters, zoom lens, wide angle lens, etc....
I have several smaller, compact cameras that take AWESOME pictures.
A DSLR is a digital single-lens reflex camera. It is like the old SLR cameras that take quick pictures (for lack of better explanation before my caffeine). The non-DSLR cameras take too long in between shots and I miss a lot of shots. That is the main reason I want one, but I'm sure Bonkers and Butterfly can tell you many other reasons they are better. But, I don't think that you will want one because they are bulky and more than what you need. Not to mention, the lowest cost is about $700.

Family! That is incredible! Congratulations! I have had a few photos used here and there, I generally don't mind as long as I am notified beforehand, I have found some on blogs and such....is always strange when you find your work on someone else's site. Irritating!
CG - here is a great website that explains the differences and the pros and cons of going slr vs point n shoot.
http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/27476/digital_slr_vs_digital_pointandshoot.html
The difference is amazing, and it is quite addicting. I know so little about photography and found that the slr is almost as easy to use as a point n shoot! I have much to learn and have only begun to figure out my camera. I love Canon, will probably never use anything but....I know Nikon has some incredible cameras as well...So does Kodak...
I looked around for good deals and found my camera with lens for under $600, but then I went and bought an IS 70-300mm telephoto lens which put me back an additional $400. The IS is Image Stabilization which is great, it is a bit heavy and I get a bit shaky - you could never tell by the photos though!
Overall, I still love my Canon S3IS point n shoot, it has video capabilities and the zoom is much better - for instance - even with the high quality lens I have, I find it VERY difficult to focus on say....a hummingbird sitting in a tree, it takes a few tries to manually find the bird, whereas with the point n shoot, it was almost instantly located.
I have a plan to take a photography class this year so I can learn more about my new friend here and take full advantage of all it can do! It is a wonderful hobby - very soothing!

Bonkers, I have definitely noticed the progression of your photos. They are getting better and better. I don't know if it started when you bought your DSLR, but there was a marked difference a few months ago (maybe longer than that). You can tell where your "eye" for pictures was getting better and better. (Not that any of your pictures were ever bad!)
I can tell you take a lot of pictures and keep your camera with you at all times! I was that way for awhile, then got busy with other stuff. You have me getting the photo bug again. :)

Thank you so much Family! I really appreciate it! My camera has somehow become my best friend....weird how that happens (and probably not too sane, but hey, better a camera than some other things!) :D:D

Photography is definitely one of the better addictions out there. :D:D:D It is certainly more constructive than say, internet addiction! :p
