I especially enjoyed the electronics and toys! An Atari 400 system was $459!!!! How on Earth did my parents afford anything???

My husbands grandma came across vintage Bride magazines from the early 70's many years ago and gave them to me. I had great fun looking through them with my mom, who got married in the early 70's and seeing how things were back then!

An Atari 400 system was $459!!!!

NO WAY! We had one of those. And, Commodore 64. I had no idea it was that much money back then. I remember my mom complaining that she wasn't going to pay $30 for a pair of jeans.

We had an Atari 2600. But we had a Pong system before that! Then later came the Atari, Commodore 64, then a TI-99/4a. My Uncle had Intellivision and I always wanted one...

My dad had an Intellivision at his house. (He still has it.) I loved the football game on it because you actually programmed in the plays for your team. You would program a 4 or 5 digit number that would tell your players what play to implement. I loved playing that with my dad.

I was showing my wife this. This is the year she was born. matter of fact it was released one month before she was born. I am thinking my parents paid that much for Starwars stuff, then all that money for the Atari games. of course i went stright to the toys since i was 7 when this came out. But hey a dryer for 300 dollars and some of the other items are cheaper. But price of the toys they havent changed a bit.

I remember getting this Barbie Dream House. I loved that thing. Funny thing is I found one in 98' for my daughter at a garage sale. About two years ago gave it to a friend for her daughter. It was one of the originals.

I always wanted on of those. I never got one so I bought my dd a Barbie castle when she was around 5. Finally I got my dream house!

FG - That's the Barbie House that I got as a kid. I played and played and played with it. I even redecorated a few times, lol! My mom still has it and intends to put it out for her granddaughters.

Edited to add: I had no idea it was that expensive back then! Wow, my parents were sure nice to me that year :)

I was thinking that about the Atari (how expensive it was and how I was privileged to have it).
