I am looking for a two-way monitor or an intercom system that doesn't have to be "installed" into the wall. Our addition is completely soundproof, so calling out for the kids doesn't work. Calling them on this rather than going over there, at times, would be much easier. Especially from our master bedroom. Is there even such a thing as a two-way baby monitor?

Yep, there is such a thing! Here is a link to one that I found quickly:

Wal-Mart or Target should have just what you need :)

Thanks, I just ordered it. I have looked everywhere in person, not really thinking about looking online. DUH. I wasn't sure there was even such a thing.

Oops! I didn't even notice it was an online only item! Oh well, at least the price was good and you will get it soon. It amazes me the selectiveness of my kids hearing. Our house is 2 story and very open - the upstairs opens to the family room below as well as the entry of the house. I can hear pratically everything they say when I am down and they are up. Yet miraculously when I call them, they can't hear me! Usually me calling them means their "fun" is ending and I might actually want them to do something.

The wonderful thing about our addition is that we can't hear a thing from the gameroom or additional bedroom. Including the air hockey table/karaoke machine and screaming children! But, it is also quite a ways away from our master bedroom, so it would be nice to have a monitor we could call them or "listen in" and make sure no one has killed anyone. :p

I'll never forget waking up at 6am to the sound of the air hockey table right after we got it. It is just like the ones at the arcade and LOUD. We had to make a rule that there is no air hockey games before 10 in the house. Now, I don't care how early or late they play.
