they do have something in common, or on the other hand, maybe they thought this would get their childrens stories back in the front of the news!

Now that is an interesting way to look at it. I would think that if i were in that position, I'd do whatever it takes to help piece things together. Publicity may be the only way they ever find the killers and that would be one way to guarantee the publicity...

I don't know. People seek out other people who understand their circumstances. In their case, unsolved murders, lost children, and the publicity. It's not too surprising that they "hooked up."

It might be more interesting to see if they stay together for the long haul. That's such a unique thing to have in common, they may have overlooked all of the things that they don't have in common.
